Stephen, 4 days ago my boyfriend broke up with me because he said he feels happy by himself and that he’s not interested in a relationship right now. He also said he still loves me. But I’m scared about the future. Sometimes I fear being replaced. Do you see me and him getting back together in the future? Thanks, Shelly
Hi Shelly,
The best thing you can do for yourself right now is to follow his lead and learn to be happy by yourself. This is a key to love life happiness and the sooner you learn it, the better. Easier said than done, of course, but accepting where you are and having faith everything will be okay will help you rely on yourself instead of feeling like you need a partner to survive.
The worst thing to do after a break-up, unless you enjoy torturing yourself, is to hang on to, dwell upon, or obsess over the person. Holding on tight like that will only make you suffer, causing more stress and heartache.
You can still be friends if you choose, and your paths may be destined to come together again in the future, but for now, let go.
Thankfully, everyone has many soul mates, so ease the pain of the breakup by focussing on gratitude for your time together, and be excited about your future.
