According to an in-house analysis of 3.2M users on OKCupid.com, 45% of gay people have had sex with five or fewer partners (vs. 44% for straights), and 98% of gay people have had sex with 20 or fewer (vs. 99% for straights).
Right.
I’ve inquired about and observed the relationship and sex lives of 1000s of friends, acquaintances, and clients over the last 25 years and I find that really difficult to believe.
OkCupid didn’t specify the ages of their group of 3.2M, but based on that site, I’m guessing the age range to be between 25 and 45.
If someone is under the age of 21 or so, or has been in a relationship most of their adult life (and faithful), then it’s possible. But for singles, unless they are monks or nuns, sleeping with more than five or even 20 people over the span of 10 or 20 years wouldn’t be too difficult, even for the people who aren’t considered promiscuous.
People notoriously lie about their number of sex partners. The old joke is take the number they give you, then multiply it by 10. Or more.
