Nikki Owen, a psychologist who uses neuro-linguistic programming, believes our thoughts have a huge impact on appearance. “Each of us has the power within ourselves to change our looks,” she says. “If you stare in the mirror and are critical about what you see, you are damaging your body on a cellular level by producing a stress hormone.”
Cathrine Jansson-Boyd, a psychologist at Anglia University, has spent years researching the idea that you can change how other people view you with self-persuasion. “If you believe something enough, it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy,” she says. “Other people will eventually believe it too.”
I agree with these psychologists, to a point. Although you likely won’t become a supermodel through positive affirmations, you can certainly boost your appeal. People who are constantly told they are sexy, beautiful, intelligent, or funny tend to believe it more and then express it more. People who constantly think of themselves as shy, lacking confidence, or dull will express the same.
This is why subliminal persuasion audios are so effective. After your subconscious mind hears the suggestions repeated over and over it will begin to believe them. As I type this I’m listening to my “Boost Self-Esteem” Soundless Subliminal. I listen to one of my subliminal titles daily as I work at my computer and usually switch them every few weeks. I know they are effective because I’ve seen the positive results in myself and I’ve heard from many clients about how they helped them too.
