“Love Doesn’t Exist”

  • Dating, Love, Marriage

pic-love-small_2966580560Brandon Wade, founder of a sugar daddy website called SeekingArrangement.com, said in a recent interview, “Love doesn’t exist.”

Based on the nasty comments under the article, it’s clear many people didn’t read his entire statement about love, they missed his point, or they bashed him because they’re intolerant of sex or companionship for money if it’s not cloaked in marriage.

What he meant was that the infatuation type of love, which is common when young or inexperienced with dating, is mostly romantic illusion. It must transform into unconditional love, without possessiveness, expectations, or selfishness, or it won’t last.

Of course, after the glitter fades and you get to know the person well, you may not want it to last. Perhaps you two simply aren’t compatible enough to make the effort worth while. The more you’re content being single, the less nonsense you tolerate.

Brandon also mentions in the article that traditional marriage and strict, long-term monogamy doesn’t work for everyone, and encourages people to make their own rules and be upfront about what they really want in a relationship.

He says, “By encouraging people to find and negotiate an arrangement, we hope to create modern relationships based on open-mindedness, open communication, brutal honesty and transparent expectations. This is the future of dating.”

I couldn’t agree more. Basing a relationship mainly on romantic love and, or trying to conform to what society expects of you, is a recipe for disaster. Both of you need to be conscious of your needs and wants, then be upfront about them with each other to see if they’re compatible, long before cohabiting or walking down the aisle.

Love does exist. Go ahead and enjoy romantic love. Just remember it’s superficial and an introduction to a more rewarding type of love, unconditional love.
