Stress, resentment and guilt block your energy and interfere with your goals. Forgive and release yourself, anyone who has ever hurt you, and let go of the stress from the past with the following meditation.
Reminder: Forgiveness is for you, not the perpetrator. Forgiving someone, even your annoying neighbor, boss, relative, or political enemy will stop the game of negative energy ping-pong. If you really want to improve the situation and create a better solution to the problem, you need to forgive. Depending upon the situation, it might need to be an ongoing process.
Use this meditation exercise just before falling asleep.
1. Relax and breathe. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and feel your body and mind relaxing.
2. Visualize protection. Take another deep breath, and as you exhale, visualize a bright white light bubble of protection surrounding you and your bed. Now visualize this white light entering the top of your head and filling your body with its brilliance. Feel the light cleansing away anything you don’t need anymore. Feel it repairing and restoring you on every level: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Take a moment to bask in this light.
3. Ask for protection, guidance, and assistance. Repeat the following out loud or to yourself: “God, guides and angels of the Light, and/or Higher Self, please allow me to gain the awareness I need through this meditation and through my dreams and daily insight. Please assist me to forgive and release myself, everyone else, and all the stress from the past, so that I can lead a more productive and happy life. Please make your guidance clear and concise so that I may easily understand, interpret, and receive it. I thank you and am grateful for your assistance.”
4. Forgive and release. Concentrate on anyone you’d like to forgive and release, including yourself. Send yourself and all these people a white light of forgiveness. Feel the forgiveness and mean it. Tell yourself that everyone did the best they could at the time, and that the past no longer matters. Consider what you learned from the experience and how this has helped you grow.
5. Let go. Say goodbye to the past and all that caused you stress. Feel yourself detaching from it all. Feel the white light reducing the tension and as you take a deep breath and exhale, watch it all fade into the distance.
6.Feel gratitude for the future. It could be for anything, like spiritual help with a goal or the motivation to meditate daily and perceiving helpful insight, exercise regularly, work on your career goals, substitute healthier foods for the junk, avoid negative people, say no to things you don’t want to do, be more accepting and forgiving of the faults of others, rise above stress, or for anything else.
7. Drift into sleep. Count yourself down into a relaxed state from ten to one. With each number feel your body relaxing and letting go, breathing gently and deeply as you do so. Try it while closing your eyes and looking slightly up to the third eye area between your eyes. Repeat this countdown until you drift into a peaceful sleep.
