A new Interactive Singles Map charts the number of single men and women in various USA cities.
The study found that among 20- and 30-somethings, almost every major city in America has more single men than single women.
Also, once you get up into your 50’s, the balance shifts to extra single women everywhere.
However, the study is flawed for several reasons:
1) Single people in this study are people who have never been married, are divorced, or are widowed. It does not include separated people or people who are dating.
2) The study assumes all singles are heterosexual. Many of the cities examined that have far more single men are gay meccas.
3) The study implies living in a city with lots of singles will help your love life. If that was true, those cities would have few single people.
4) The study fails to point out the most important factor that leads to a single person finding a compatible relationship: Personal timing.
You could live in the best city for the type of singles you want to meet, but if your personal timing (which is symbolic of your fate and karma) isn’t currently good for meeting a good match, you won’t. Or, if you do, it won’t last or the relationship will have too many problems.
I’ve lived in many cities in the USA and traveled throughout America and other parts of the world. In almost every one of these cites, I’ve heard people say the same thing: “It’s harder to meet people here.”
It’s not where you are that will result in the relationship you want. It’s who you are and your fate and how you use your free will to make the most of it.
Of course, if you’re single and looking, living in the middle of nowhere is not going to help your love life, but neither are the “best cities for singles” studies.
