Skeptics say there’s no such thing as ghosts, demons, or haunted houses.
In a case in Gary, Indiana, a woman and her three children claim their rental house was possessed by demons, and the facts have even the most skeptical admitting that it might be true.
It would be easy to dismiss this story if a family case manager and hospital nurse hadn’t witnessed the 9-year-old boy walking backwards up a wall, or medical staff hadn’t seen the youngest boy “lifted and thrown into a wall with nobody touching him.”
Gary police Captain Charles Austin said it is the strangest story he’s ever heard. Austin said he at first thought Latoya Ammons and her family made it up as a way to make money. But after several visits to their home and interviews with witnesses, Austin said, “I am a believer.”
The family’s experience involves a DCS intervention, psychological evaluations, a police investigation, and eventually, a series of exorcisms.

Haunted homes are actually quite common in my experience, though demons are less so. Many houses, apartments, and condos, especially older ones, are occupied by fragments of energy and sometimes entire lost souls left behind by previous occupants. Most of the time the energy is only noticeable to those people who are more spiritually sensitive than average, though it can cause problems for anyone.
