Is fate an excuse for laziness?
“Destiny is for losers. It’s just a stupid excuse to wait for things to happen instead of making them happen.” Actress Blair Waldorf
Some people may be guilty of using fate or destiny (same thing) as an excuse for laziness and not taking action when they need to.
What Blair may not understand yet are the dynamics of destiny and free will.
In our many years of empirical research, we have found that destiny absolutely exists. In fact, we’ve found that most major events in life are destined, and many seemingly minor ones are too.
Does that mean you should just lay back and take it easy and use fate as an excuse for laziness? No, of course not, because you have free will to make the most of your life and react to destined events.
Blair is right about making things happen, but much of the time there’s only so much you can do.
This is especially true with your love life. Sure, you can be proactive and make the most of yourself and meet as many quality people as you can. But as I’ve said before, if you make an effort, you will meet who you are meant to meet when you are meant to meet them, it will be what it’s meant to be, and it will last for as long as it’s meant to last.
Yes, you have some control about how a relationship unfolds (or doesn’t), and how long it lasts, but if you think about it, you don’t really have that much.
Yes, fate can be an excuse for laziness, but many things are fated, and the good news is that you have free will to make the most of your fate and the good things in life are destined too.
