17% of all U.S. couples wed in 2015 were of different races, compared to only 3% in 1967, according to a recent study. Interracial marriage was legalized in 1967 after the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in the Loving v. Virginia case.
Acceptance of intermarriage has grown over the last 50 years as it’s become more prevalent in the United States. According to the study, 39% of adults say intermarriage is good for society. Only 24% believed this in 2010. 9% currently believe the trend is a bad thing for society, compared to 13% in 2010. 52% now say it doesn’t make much difference for society, compared to 61% in 2010.
From a spiritual perspective, souls incarnate into different situations, environments, and cultures, and as different races to learn and grow.
Every person you know now, you’ve known in past lives. Just because you were both the same race in one life doesn’t mean you will be this time. But your souls remember each other, and love transcends color.
Based on my experience with past life regression, I’ve found that when race is a major issue for a soul in this life (either being a certain race and, or strong feelings about a particular race or races), it was also an issue in a past life. They are back to work through it, balance karma and, or be a positive example.
People who refuse to accept interracial marriage don’t yet realize that we are not our bodies, which are only temporary vessels or costumes our souls use to learn and grow on this planet. They will need to experience the other side of their critical views in order to learn acceptance and tolerance.
While a couple is “interracial” based on their skin color, since most of us have incarnated as all different races, we’re all interracial souls. This makes race and skin color about as important as hair color; there is no better, just different.
