What makes people attractive? Geneva scientists discovered there are biological and evolutionary triggers that make people more appealing.
Facial symmetry is an obvious one, including a heart shaped face for women and a strong jaw for men. Body shape, in proportion, is also a given.
Blonde hair for women is perceived as an indication of youth and sexual vitality. However, a 2011 study in the Scandinavian Journal of Psychology found brunettes more attractive.
Smell can also be a factor, as studies have found we can sense a person whose genes complement ours, which will produce healthier babies.
Men prefer reasonably high voices in women, just as women prefer a low pitched voice. Men are more attracted to smiling women, but not the other way around.
The study covered physical traits, but they forgot about the soul and personal energy; an average looking person with a beautiful soul and positive energy can be more attractive than a good looking person with a dark soul and negative energy. Also, charisma, enthusiasm, confidence, making the most of one’s appearance, and intelligence can make someone attractive.
In addition, the unique chemistry between you and another person can make you more attractive to each other. In this case, the person becomes more attractive the more you get to know them.
The researchers in the above study list physical qualities that make people more attractive. But few people fit the physical ideal, and comparing yourself to airbrushed photos of models isn’t healthy. Instead, focus on the other qualities that make people attractive, highlight your best traits, and make the most of what you have to offer.
